HCT, St. Mary’s Hospital agreement for patient care

HealthyCT and Saint Mary’s Hospital announce
new agreement for patient care

HealthyCT, Connecticut’s new Consumer-Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) for health insurance, and Saint Mary’s Hospital today announced they have signed an agreement to give future HealthyCT members access to Saint Mary’s Hospital, as well as hundreds of its affiliated physicians.

HealthyCT began to enroll individuals and small businesses on October 1, with coverage beginning as early as January 1 for those who enroll on or before December 23. The non-profit company provides a new option for those currently insured by other commercial carriers and those who haven’t had or couldn’t afford insurance.

Individuals, families and small groups can purchase HealthyCT coverage on and off of Connecticut’s new health insurance exchange, Access Health CT. Saint Mary’s Hospital and its physicians will participate in all HealthyCT plans, along with nearly 9,000 other physicians and health practitioners statewide.

“HealthyCT is committed to providing individuals and businesses in Connecticut with easy access to high-quality, affordable health care. We can’t do that without our hospital partners,” said HealthyCT CEO Ken Lalime. “We are pleased to be working with Saint Mary’s Hospital to ensure that consumers and employers throughout Greater Waterbury have access to a strong hospital and physician network for the medical care they need, when they need it.”

“Helping reduce the number of patients who are uninsured helps everyone – and signing on to provide care to individual consumers and local businesses who purchase HealthyCT is one way we can do that,” said Chad W. Wable, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, Saint Mary’s Health System.

HealthyCT’s network has been growing rapidly and the plan is in the process of credentialing applicants and adding them to the online directory. As a result, not all physicians appear in the directory on www.healthyct.org. Consumers, brokers and employers are encouraged to contact HealthyCT at 1-855-HLTHYCT (458-4928) if they cannot locate a practitioner in the online directory.
