HealthyCT and CCAP team up for Health & Wellness Ride from Hartford to Stamford CT Cycling Advancement Program team to pedal through Fairfield County to 4th Annual Stamford Hospital Health & Wellness Expo (Wallingford) If your Saturday plans involve leaf-peeping along our state’s scenic back roads between Hartford and Stamford, don’t be surprised to see a team of cyclists wearing orange shoes as bright as the fall foliage. A Pro-am team from the Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program (CCAP) will be participating in HealthyCT’s annual Health and Wellness Ride from the capital city to the 4th Annual Stamford Hospital Health & Wellness Expo at Chelsea Piers Connecticut. The cyclists will be riding to bring attention to the benefits of biking as great outdoor exercise that anyone can enjoy as recreation or competition. The team, which is sponsored by HealthyCT, also hopes to raise awareness about the importance of having health insurance – not just when you’re sick, but for all the non-cost benefits you get to help you stay healthy. HealthyCT Enrollment Ride highlights upcoming insurance sign-up deadline: 80-mile cycling tour visits five enrollment centers HealthyCT, Connecticut’s non-profit health insurance CO-OP, today is sponsoring an 80-mile cycling tour of five open enrollment centers across the state to bring attention to the upcoming deadline to sign up for health insurance. Consumers must enroll by Monday, Dec. 15, to be eligible for health insurance coverage on January 1. To highlight the sign-up deadline, the Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program Pro-am team is riding a route with stops at five consumer enrollment centers. The route begins at the Access Health CT Enrollment Center in New Britain, then goes on to the Compass Health Insurance Enrollment Centers in Waterbury and Bridgeport before moving east to the Access Health CT center on Church Street in New Haven. The ride ends at the Compass Health Insurance Enrollment Center on Whalley Avenue in New Haven. CO-OP members elect fellow policyholders to Board of Directors as Open Enrollment continues Official results of the company’s first Board of Directors election have placed HealthyCT members holding the majority of voting seats of the non-profit health insurance company. The final tally, certified by an outside vendor, was announced today at www.HealthyCT.org. HealthyCT is a non-profit Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP), whose member-led model is shifting Connecticut’s health insurance landscape by offering affordable, accessible and high-quality health care to individuals and businesses of all sizes. Its member involvement in company leadership gives HealthyCT members a direct voice in their health plan and its decisions. The election is believed to be the first of its kind for a Connecticut health plan. Since November, members in good standing have been able to vote online or with paper ballots. More than 10% of the company’s policyholders participated in the historic first-time election, choosing from among individuals, small and large business representatives, non-profit leaders and physicians on the ballot. Voting closed at the HealthyCT Annual Meeting on Wednesday evening.
