HealthyCT earns NCQA Accreditation – Quality rating achieved after just 18 months of operation

(Wallingford)  HealthyCT, Connecticut’s non-profit health insurance CO-OP, is pleased to announce that it has achieved an important milestone for quality: Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance, or NCQA.  HealthyCT had previously earned Interim Accreditation in 2014 as a preliminary step toward this benchmark.  Following a rigorous application process submitted in June and an on-site review last month, surveyors awarded the company three-year NCQA Accreditation. “In building this company from the ground up, quality was our top goal for HealthyCT,” said CEO Ken Lalime.  “Earning this designation at the earliest opportunity goes to show that we directed our efforts in the right place, for the good of all of our 35,000 members.” NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to assessing and reporting on the quality of health insurers, managed care plans, physician organizations and other health-related programs.  In Connecticut, it is also widely known as the body that confers recognition to medical practices that qualify as patient-centered medical homes. HealthyCT achieves important quality rating from NCQA

HealthyCT marks licensing anniversary by achieving important quality rating from NCQA HealthyCT, Connecticut’s non-profit health insurance CO-OP, is marking the anniversary of receiving its state insurance license. The company is pleased to announce that it has achieved an important milestone: National Committee for Quality Assurance Interim Accreditation. Accreditation involved review of programs and policies by a team of physicians and health plan experts looking to see how well a plan delivers value and improves health care for its members. “It is a terrific feat for a start-up company like HealthyCT to achieve NCQA Accreditation. Everything we do at HealthyCT is about changing the way health care is delivered to our members for the better,” said HealthyCT CEO Ken Lalime. “This is a testament to our shared belief that there is room in Connecticut for health care done differently.” HealthyCT also begins a new chapter this month by providing coverage to its first large group (51+ employees), Bristol ARC, a non-profit that has been assisting adults with disabilities for more than 50 years. “Bristol Adult … Read More
