A community can be a powerful thing. Sometimes the resources you need to stay well or to get you back on track from an illness are right around you. In some cases they’re free. From information on how to stay fit to help transitioning from a stay in the hospital, there’s help available from local groups.
Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program (CCAP) – Promoting cycling and physical fitness to children and young adults throughout the state, CCAP racers are now sporting orange cycling shoes and HealthyCT logos on their socks as part of our partnership with them. Check out a race and learn how you can connect with the CCAP and keep moving through their cycling program.
Get Healthy CT – Get Healthy CT is a coalition dedicated to preventing and reducing obesity by removing the barriers to healthy eating and physical activity. Their coalition of more than 100 member organizations includes health care providers, health departments and health districts, social service providers, colleges and universities, businesses, town and legislative leaders, researchers, and faith-based organizations.
United Way 2-1-1 – United Way 2-1-1 is, as their website explains it, “your one-stop connection to the local services you need, from utility assistance, food, housing, child care, after school programs, elder care, crisis intervention and much more. 2-1-1 is always ready to assist you find the help you need.” Dial 2-1-1 or visit www.211ct.org.
